Summary: Symbol or Recipe Flags are small, colorful circles featuring letters or icons that highlight specific details about a recipe and appear beneath recipes in the customer-facing order flow.
1. After logging into KMS, click on Kitchen on the navigation bar on the left-hand side of the page and select "Symbol Flags" from the drop-down list.
2. On the Symbol Flags page, click on the green button labeled "Add Symbol Flag".
3. A modal will appear with five text boxes and three options regarding the aesthetics of the symbol flag: Flag Name, Flag Value, Description, Abbreviation, Sequence, Color, Select Icon, and Clear Icon.
4. Flag Name refers to the overall category.
a. Note: This is required.
b. For example, if you want to create a symbol flag to note that a recipe contains bacon, the Flag Name could be protein.
5. Flag Value refers to the specific item that falls within the category (Flag Name-see above).
a. Note: This is required.
b. For example, if you want to create a symbol flag to note that the recipe contains bacon, the Flag Value would be bacon.
6. Description refers to a brief summary of what the symbol flag is noting regarding the recipe it is attached to.
a. Note: This is optional. If Description is added, this will appear on the customer-facing order flow when a customer hovers over the symbol flag.
b. For example, if you want to create a symbol flag to note that a recipe contains bacon, the Description could be this meal contains bacon.
7. Abbreviation refers to the shortened version of the Flag Name or Flag Value.
a. Note: This is optional. If Abbreviation is added, this will appear on the symbol flag on the customer-facing order flow only if there is no icon (see below) selected.
b. For example, if you want to create a symbol flag to note that a recipe contains bacon, the Abbreviation could be P (short for protein - the Flag Name) or B (short for bacon - the Flag Value).
8. Sequence refers to the order in which the symbol flag appears on the recipe on the customer-facing order flow.
a. Note: This is optional and usually utilized if there are going to be multiple symbol flags associated with a single recipe.
b. For example, if you want to create a symbol flag to note that there is bacon in a recipe and you want to ensure that it appears first on the recipe on the customer-facing order flow should there be multiple symbol flags associated with the recipe, the Sequence would be 1.
9. Color refers to the color that will appear as the background of the symbol flag.
a. Note: This is required.
10. Once the Color is set using the color picker grid, click the blue button labeled "Save" in the bottom right-hand corner of the color picker grid pop-up shown in the second picture below.
11. Select Icon refers to the option to pick a symbol representative of the Flag Value (see above). You may choose a symbol from the available list (shown in the second picture below) by clicking on the green button labeled "Select Icon".
a. Note: This is optional.
b. For example, if you want to create a symbol flag to note that a recipe contains bacon, the Select Icon could be a symbol of bacon slices.
c. To clear the Select Icon, click the gray button labeled "Clear Icon" located below the "Select Icon" button shown in the third picture below.
12. Once you have completed adding the details for the symbol flag, click the green button labeled "Save" located in the bottom right-hand corner of the modal.
